The reigning Miss Teen Africa Amirah Akpan has triumphed winning Educational Innovation of the Year at the second annual Global Youth Awards in London.

The awards recognise and celebrate young people in cities around the world who are passionate about making a change in their communities and in the lives of young people around them.

The winners were decided by a panel of judges and revealed at an awards ceremony in London at The Jetty Greenwich peninsula.

I am delighted to have been presented with this award,” said the Amirah at the peninsula. “Education is a huge part of Miss Teen Africa and my campaign and I’m so pleased that this has been recognised and celebrated.

The young Queen who officially launches her 1000 books campaign earlier in the year at the Nigeria High Commission in London has been receiving a great deal of commendation by community leaders around the world. “My main aim is to impact education that will benefit young Girls in Africa by setting up a new library in the rural part of Nigeria, and I’m excited to be receiving the needed support.
