Miss Teen Africa Amirah Akpan officially launches her 1000 books campaign at the Nigeria High Commission in London. The 18 year old Queen from Nigeria who aim to use her campaign to raise awareness about Educational issues in Africa has been receiving great deal of commendation.
“According to Unicef report and in recent news there is clearly a crisis said Amirah, there are estimated 101 million children that are not currently in school and more need to be done to address some of this issues.
The launch event which was well received by the Nigeria High commissioner His Excellency, Justice George Oguntade, CFR, CON in the presence of other Members of Board expressed their full support. “We are happy about your initiative to help other young people in Africa said the Ambassador and we are here to support you all the way.”
As well as raising the awareness, the campaign will also aim to collect over 1000 Educational books from donors to support schools and building of a new library in rural part of Nigeria.
“I am pleased to be launching this campaign today with the support of the Ambassador and highly regarded diplomat in the Nigerian community and I hope the campaign will raise much needed awareness about Education in Africa and make a deserved change to break cycle of Illiteracy. “I have now collected over 100 books so far around Liverpool and I am now reaching out to the general public to support my campaign by donating their used or unwanted books.
